The most beautiful buildings in the world - the definition by the famous climber Reinhold Messner about the Dolomites.
The Dolomites, also known as the "pale mountains", are part of the "UNESCO World Heritage" since 2008.
The Dolomites, a breathtaking landscape both in summer and winter, are certainly among one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.
In fact the Dolomites, among the rolling hills and lines painted by the mighty snow-capped peaks, are not only a cultural and natural heritage, they play also a very important role in the geological and geomorphological sector.
With the increasing arrival of guests in Val Gardena, there was a need to expand the tourist offer on the beautiful Mount Seceda, sunny and with an interesting degree of difficulty. Thus was born in February 1960 the company FUNIVIE SECEDA SPA thanks to some enterprising and courageous fellow citizens.
At the beginning the two cable cars were built that led to Mount Seceda and then the various chair lifts and ski lifts. The FUNIVIE SECEDA SPA has over the years built several ski lifts:
From Piazza S. Antonio in (center of Ortisei) you can reach us via the "La Curta" escalator and the Tapis-Roulant in just 5 minutes.
Furthermore, it is possible to reach the valley station by car, there are 250 parking spaces available (partially covered).
The valley station of the cable car is connected with all the ski bus lines of Ortisei. Some lines stop right in front of the valley station while the other lines stop in Piazza S. Antonio and are connected with the escalators and the "La Curta" gallery.
"La Curta" is the very popular pedestrian connection between the center of Ortisei (Piazza S. Antonio) and the valley station of the Seceda cable car. Each year, more than 1 million people, both guests and locals, use the escalators to move around the town. The tunnel is open around the clock, but the escalators are not working during the night. This is the first connection of this type and size in the entire Alpine region.
This connection consists of 6 covered escalators and 4 gangways located in a tunnel. Total height difference: 59 m - total length: 295m.
Ortisei is connected via this connection and the Seceda cable cars directly to the Sellaronda.
The simplest way to reach Val Gardena is to follow the Brenner Motorway A22. Coming from north, follow Innsbruck-Brenner-Chiusa. Coming from south, follow Verona-Trento-Bolzano. IC- and EC trains take you to Bressanone and Bolzano. Some trains stop in Chiusa too. A regular bus service (SAD) will carry you to Ortisei in Val Gardena in less than one hour.
